Our spirulina dog treat is a vegan (and vegetarian) dog treat that can be used as a training treat, meal topper or snack. All Chippin products contain NO proteins or byproducts from mammals. The crickets we source are humanely harvested from a small family farm in Canada at the end of their natural life cycle after live in conditions they would naturally select. Our silver carp is wild-caught, and by fishing for this overpopulated fish we help restore biodiversity, improve water quality, and protect the Great Lakes.

Chippin dog treats are for all dog breeds of all ages and sizes. For small dogs, treats are easily breakable into four pieces for smaller bites and reduced calories that are perfect dog training treats too. Our daily food recipe is formulated to meet the nutritional needs of dogs that are one year or older. It's made to meet the AAFCO nutritional requirements for Adult Maintenance diets.

Dogs love silver carp! Silver carp fish is good for dogs in providing a source of complete and highly digestible protein that has all ten essential amino acids. For dogs with allergies or sensitive tummies, silver carp is a natural alternative protein and omega 3-rich delicious food. While other fish, like tuna, accumulate toxins, silver carp is a clean fish that has no detectable heavy metals like mercury. We pair our 100% fresh silver carp (no meat meals!) with healthy all-natural ingredients like oats, pumpkin, flaxseed, cranberries, spinach, yeast (great for B vitamins) and chicory root (great fiber!).

It does not have a fishy smell. Our silver carp products have a neutral aroma. Omega 3-rich silver carp is an overpopulated fish in the USA. Status quo fishing operations cause high levels of bycatch that harm marine wildlife. Combined with widespread overfishing of commonly used fishes (like salmon and whitefish from Atlantic cod), we had to find a better way. By fishing for silver carp, we help restore wildlife biodiversity and protect the Great Lakes--a water source for more than 48 million people! We actually NEED to fish for silver carp! The reason we don't see more of it around? Very simply that people don't know about it and haven't demanded it (typical supply & demand). It's incredibly nutritious and a mild, not-too-fishy fish.

For each of our core proteins (crickets, spirulina and silver carp), we work directly with top quality, small to medium sized farms and fisheries. This enables us to lab test each batch of ingredients and create a traceable, transparent supply chain. The University of Illinois, Department of Animal Sciences, also conducted a study of all Chippin proteins in comparison to "status quo" proteins like chicken. The University found that all of our proteins have the same or better results for amino acid content (the building blocks of protein) and are more digestible for our four-legged family members. We follow the recommendation of Board Certified veterinarians for daily calorie intake needed based on your dog's weight and whether she or he is spayed/neutered. Each eco friendly Chippin package has a "best by" date printed on the bag! The product expires at this date, and you will always have at least 6 months shelf life upon delivery. We bake everything in small batches to keep food fresh.

The dehydrated recipe is both fresh and convenient! Following our transitioning and feeding guidelines, mix the dry food with warm water, stir and wait three minutes, then serve the planet-friendly food to your pup!

The dry food should be kept in the original sealed bag or an air tight container at room temperature. You may store pre-mixed food (dehydrated + water) in the fridge for 2-3 days for added convenience.

We use ingredients that are gentle on the stomach and cricket protein which is easier to digest than meat protein. Many dogs with sensitive stomachs have had success on the Cricket Daily Food. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, we recommend that you introduce the food slowly and double the recommended transition period.

Yes! This is normal. This high-moisture recipe contains whole foods and ingredients. It's normal to see small pieces of carrots and kale as the nutrients and antioxidants from the food are still be absorbed throughout the digestion process. If your dog was previously on a dry kibble diet, it's normal for their stool to look different.

Yes! It's normal for your dog to have a more voluminous stool as the recipe is high in both moisture and fiber, especially compared to a previous dry kibble diet. Follow the feeding guidelines on the product page to ensure your dog is receiving the correct amount of food daily.

The carbon pawprint is the amount of water, land, and greenhouse gas emissions involved in the production of pet products and its social cost. Protein is the most resource intensive part of the "dog food chain," but it is also a critical macronutrient in your dog's diet. Yes, our "earth saving" eco friendly packaging is made from 29% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials! This packaging decreases the amount of plastic pollution and microplastics that end up in our landfills, waterways, and drinking water. If you haven't seen our packaging already, if you look closely you can see little bumps that are not in "virgin" plastic packaging. Those bumps are little pieces of sterilized and repurposed milk cartons and yogurt cups. Also, the packaging may crinkle/wrinkle more than standard food pouches; that's a good thing! It is not recyclable. We know that less than 9% of plastic is actually recycled and oftentimes recyclable materials will still go to landfill because there is no market for them. So we chose to ensure we could support the reuse of other materials that would otherwise create waste with our PCR food safe packaging.
